As a Researcher, I mainly work on VA’s studies and surveys, including the VA Barometer, which investigates public attitudes and confidence in research; ‘Science in Society’, a collaboration between VA and the SOM Institute, as well as studies within the Future Knowledge Society project, funded by Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences, IVA. I am also involved in projects on Open Science.
I have a PhD in English literature and have researched African literature, most recently the translation of African literature into Swedish.
Collaboration and dialogue between research and society benefits research, resulting in new ideas, new methods and new findings, and enriches society by providing evidence to support decision-making and leading to better understanding about knowledge creation. In a democratic and knowledge-based society, mutual understanding is important.
