Covid, war in Europe, desinformation and a global climate crisis – how do we cope with the many challenges of today? Discuss how we can adapt to a chaotic world with three researchers from across Europe in our online Science Café, which  is part of European Researchers’ Night.

But we are also facing a multitude of crises following each other. In this science café researchers will discuss how, for example, culture and knowledge can help us tackle these challenges. Welcome to join in and ask your questions!

Participants

Beate Schirrmacher, a literary scholar at Linnaeus University and member of Humtank, Sweden. My research about classical music and violence in film and literature demonstrates how art confronts us with contradictions and ambiguity. Therefore, art, film and literature can help us cope with the negative feelings that go along with unclear situations – an essential skill in a time of colliding crises.

Connor McGookin, MaREI Centre, Environmental Research Institute, University of Cork, Ireland. My central research interests are participatory approaches to energy system modeling and planning, local authority climate/energy planning, and community responses to sustainability challenges (in particular climate change).

Dr Margaret Jean Westby University of Malta, Malta. My research interests are human-technology relations and interactions in artistic/social practice, in particular to healing and caring.
