Coronavirus in the Swedish media – confidence in politicians is decreasing

The news media are still Swedes’ primary source of information about the coronavirus, but fewer young people are accessing any information at all. Researchers are perceived to be more in agreement in their views on how Sweden is handling the pandemic. These are the latest findings of a study being conducted by the Swedish non-profit organisation VA (Public & Science).

Forskare vid Göteborgs universitet beskrev den 25 september på DN Debatt hur tilltron till myndigheter ökade under coronakrisens akuta fas. VAs generalsekreterare Cissi Askwall svarar i en replik att förtroendet visserligen ökade under mars–april, men att det sedan har sjunkit igen.

Forskningen om ljusföroreningar förs framåt med hjälp av skolelever och scouter

Under 2019 och i början av 2020 gav sig skolelever, lärare, scoutgrupper, astronomer och nyfikna privatpersoner ut för att räkna stjärnor på natthimlen. Syftet var att hjälpa forskare att testa en ny metod för att mäta ljusföroreningar. Nu har forskarna analyserat resultaten.

VA at ESOF 2020 – ensuring dialogue between science and society in challenging times

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, dialogue between science and society is more important than ever. This year’s EuroScience Open Forum, a hybrid of in-person and online events held 2-6 September, provided a key international platform to discuss and share experiences on issues such as communicating scientific uncertainty and maintaining public trust in science.
