SciShops Summer School: learning and knowledge sharing

Between 1 and 4 July, the city of Limassol in Cyprus welcomed 45 participants from 15 different countries to the 2019 SciShops Summer School. With diverse backgrounds, ranging from researchers at universities to project managers in private companies, and varying levels of expertise in Science Shops, the participants gathered in this seaside city to learn together about many different aspects relating to the establishment, running and sustainability of Science Shops.

Plea to the EU: Enhance Science Engagement ambitions

VA has signed Ecsite’s open letter to the European Commissioner for Research and Innovation, Carlos Mœdas. The letter calls for an inversion of the “top-down” dissemination of scientific results in favour of involving citizens in the co-creation and co-design of the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. Including VA, the open letter is endorsed by 135 networks and organisations.

Vad ville Almedalen forska om?

För att forskningen ska kunna ta sig an samhällsproblemen behöver forskare komma närmare samhället. En del av lösningen kan vara kunskapskiosker (science shops), ställen där allmänhet och civilsamhälle samverkar med forskare för att ta fram ny kunskap. Under Almedalsveckan 2019 slog vi upp en kunskapskiosk i Visby för att ta reda på vad Almedalen ville forska om.

BLOOM brings the Swedish forest to the suburbs of Stockholm

Did you know that the forest can be found in every aspect of your everyday life, from food packaging to the latest fashion? On 12-13 June, VA took the opportunity to bring the forest into the suburbs of Stockholm and to talk about the bioeconomy with visitors at Järvaveckan, a political festival that this year attracted more than 50,000 people.
