VA works to promote dialogue and openness between the public and researchers. We do this by organising different events at which the public gets the opportunity to meet and discuss different issues directly with researchers. As an Office Coordinator and Project Assistant, I’m responsible for the financial monitoring of our EU projects, financial reporting to the European Commission, event management and administration. In addition, I’m involved in membership development and administration.

I’m a senior lecturer in Media and Communication Studies at Södertörn University. Since 2017, I’ve been working together with VA (Public & Science) in projects regarding citizens’ trust in and the media’s representation of research and researchers. This collaboration is done within the project Vetenskapen i Samhället (Science in Society).

During fall 2019 and spring 2020 I’ll be participating in a transfer programme (PUSH) where the university is financing me being at VA one day a week. The aim is to develop collaborations around research, teaching and science communication. During this period, I’ll mainly keep working with ViS, foremost with the new project Varför så dålig hum om humaniora? (about the public’s view on humanities). I’m also aiming to identify new themes for research and teaching collaborations together with VA.

I am strategically responsible for VA’s communication and senior Project Manager of some of VA’s projects, which seek to stimulate dialogue between researchers and the public in various ways. For example, I am involved in projects about Bioeconomy and Citizen Science. My tasks include planning VA’s communications strategy and I am responsible for the development of our digital communications.

There is a gap between academia/researchers and other parts of society. VA’s role is to bridge this gap and the aim is to get these two worlds to understand and talk to each other through dialogue. To create a better world and for the future.

I’m Project Manager for the annual conference Forum for Science Communication, an important arena for inspiration and networking for everyone interested in science engagement.

As VA’s Press Officer, I’m happy to answer questions about VA, to help you as a journalist to get in touch with the right person and to brainstorm ideas about how our experts can contribute to your work.

Previously, I was Project Manager for European Researchers’ Night in Sweden (ForskarFredag), the competition Researchers’ Grand Prix, and the citizen science project the Star-Spotting Experiment.
