With ten different cases in nine European countries, YouCount is an opportunity for researchers and young people to work together. Female researchers play an important role in the development and running of the project. On International Women’s Day, VA intern Dina Dabaghie wrote a post for the YouCount blog.

Dina Dabaghie is a PhD student at Karolinska Institute and an intern at VA (Public and Science). Read her blogpost and interview with the female researchers in the three-year EU project YouCount, where VA is one of the partners.

Being a female researcher gives you the power to make a change despite the difficulties that are faced. Along with an opportunity to inspire the younger generation on the importance of inclusivity both in everyday life and scientific communities. Having Citizen Social Science projects where the aim is to create an inclusive environment within science is yet another step for an equal future.”

Reidun Norvoll, Project Coordinator, YouCount Norway

In YouCount, young people and researchers are working together to explore and find solutions to problems preventing the younger generation from being included in society. The collaborative approach of the project is called Citizen Social Science (CSS).
